Devon Zilinek to Attend SUNY Purchase — Pursuing Degree in Arts Management

devonI started taking guitar lessons at the Lesson Center in third or fourth grade. At that time I had no idea what an impact it would have on my life. I started out taking lessons with Jeff. When I was in eighth grade I realized how much of a passion I had for music and playing guitar and decided to audition for the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts (LVPA). Jeff worked with me through the whole audition process and I was accepted. Once I was at LVPA I began taking lessons with Andy and he helped me with all of the jazz techniques I was learning in school. This Fall I will be attending SUNY Purchase College as an Arts Management major and I hope to one day work in the music business. The Lesson Center has definitely helped me realize my passion for music; from my first guitar lesson, to auditioning to LVPA, to now going off to college for arts management.

Cailyn Breski Accepted to Drew University

Cailyn Breski – Off to College

Cailyn Breski is a senior at Southern Lehigh High School who plans on attending Drew University in Madison NJ for Neuroscience and Music Therapy, having obtained scholarships for science and vocal performance. Cailyn’s goal is to work with diseases and disorders of the brain, utilizing music as a healing modality. Her foray into the music world began when she started taking voice lessons from June Thomas at The Lesson Center in Coopersburg during her sophomore year in high school. This culminated in her first performance in front of a live audience at Mayfair in May of 2011. Since then Cailyn has formed her own band, Blind Lights, with friends she met while studying at The Lesson Center and has performed in many venues across the Lehigh Valley and New Jersey, including Musikfest, Blue Mountain Ski resort, opening for Aaron Carter at Crocodile Rock to name a few.

In addition to her acceptance at Drew, Cailyn received a governor’s scholarship for her vocal talents.  She attributes that success to her work with her private instructor, June Thomas, as well as the scholarship application assistance she received from TLC voice instructor, Phil Diaz.

We’re so happy for Cailyn and for this great evidence that private music education has it’s rewards — professionally, personally and even monetarily!

Erin Farmer to Attend Kutztown University

Erin Farmer at last year’s Blast Furnace Blues Festival

Erin has been a student of The Lesson Center for over five years… here are a few words from Erin, as she graduates High School and heads off to college at Kutztown University, where she hopes to major in Business Administration and minor in the arts.  “I took guitar lessons from Jon Fadem and Jeff Roberts and voice lessons from Sarah Shown. I learned a lot from all of my teachers and they all really helped me stay ahead in all if my musical endeavors. When I had to learn pieces for college auditions, or any auditions in general, my teachers were all ready and waiting with songs lined up for me to choose from. They were supportive in anything I chose to do, and they helped me through a lot of complicated material. I owe my Lesson Center teachers a lot and they got me to where I am today.”

Erin will be greatly missed by all the TLC staff.  We can’t wait to hear about her college adventures and she what she accomplishes next!   And don’t forget, Erin – TLC Trexlertown is just a few minutes from Kutztown.  Come visit us again soon!
