VIOLIN, VIOLA & CELLO LESSONS

Our strings program offers private instruction in violin, viola or cello. Our private violin lessons start as young as age 5. Due to the size of the instrument, most cello lessons start at 10 years of age or older.We have students of all ages from adults to children. For younger children we highly encourage a parent to sit in on the lesson to help the student at home with things such as posture and hand positioning. We supplement our private violin, viola and cello lessons with fun ensembles or fiddling groups that play in our recitals. Our violin, viola and cello teachers have university or college degrees in their instrument and many perform regularly with local orchestras or bands. Basic restrictions are usually due strictly to the size of the child – e.g. hand size for piano or lung capacity for brass and woodwinds. Lessons are conducted weekly in either 30 or 60 minute classes at both our Bethlehem and Coopersburg studios. ARE YOU A GROWN UP? No problem! Our teachers love their adult students. STRINGS STAFF KERIANNE MARSHALL Kerianne, a resident of North Wales PA, has a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Moravian College. While there, she was the first student to declare a primary study in Celtic fiddle, which she studied with Alison Gillespie. She also took classical violin lessons with Linda Kistler, guitar lessons with John Arnold, and piano lessons with Dan DeChellis. She has performed around the Lehigh Valley with the Moravian College-Community Orchestra, the Moravian College Celtic Music Ensemble, the Moravian College Greyhound Marching Band (as a member of the color guard), and the Moravian College Women's Chorus. Since graduation she can also be seen with the Alumni Marching Band. In addition to teaching music lessons, she enjoys Broadway musicals, Flyers hockey, and singing loudly in the car. VIOLIN/VIOLA/ CELLO Coopersburg: Wednesday     PAUL KENDALL Paul Kendall is a professional musician with a Masters in Music Education. He has held positions in Public Schools and Colleges including Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Band, General Music, Lessons, and Lecture Courses. Recently, he has performed with Natalie Cole, The Temptations, Bill Watrous, Jimmy Bruno, Skip Wilkins, Dave Leonhardt, Rob Stoneback, Tony Gairo, The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and Patrick Poladian. His students achievements include All Eastern States, Julliard Preparatory, and All State. VIOLIN/VIOLA/ CELLO Bethlehem: Wednesday Coopersburg: Tuesday     SARAH SHOWN As a local teacher to the Lehigh Valley now for 6 years, Sarah Shown has concentrated her studies in all facets of both instruction and performance. Studied from her mother, Deb Leahey, she has been playing and performing on the piano for 20 years now. At the age of eight, begun flute studies, ranging mostly in the classical genre and at the age of 14 started violin. Although she concentrates her studies on Irish and gypsy fiddling, she is also classically trained on the violin as well. All of her lessons run with comprehensive musical methods to both theory, technique, rhythm, ear training, sight reading, improvisation and the science of how music effects the brain. She is a performer and aside from the instruments she teaches you may find her dabbling in bits of accordion and guitar and performing all over the east coast.
